Mobilink logo Mobilink Q4 2012 Revenues Up 9%Mobilink has posted forth quarter revenues of Rs. 27.2 billion, up 8.9 percent from Rs. 24.98 billion during the same period last year.
Company’s EBITDA in local currency increased 12 precent to Rs. 11.7 billion up from Rs. 10.4 billion in last quarter of previous year. Capex was down 8 percent to USD 101 million in Q4 2012.
Mobilink said that its revenues were hurt mainly by forced network suspensions from government due to security reasons. Company said that it was asked to shut down cellular services during Eid holiday in October, Ashura and other occasions in November and December, resulting in revenue loss for Mobilink and all other cellular operators in Pakistan.
Furthermore, new regulatory guidelines were issued on retail channel sales, resultantly Mobilink added a net 67,000 new subscribers while its market share settled at 29.6 percent down 0.8 percent during same period last year.
Mobilink’s ARPU in local currency stood at Rs. 243 up from Rs. 235 during the same period previous year.
Mobilink said that it signed an agreement with Huawei and Alcatel-Lucent for modernizing the network, paving the way to introducing 3G services, as soon as these are licensed in Pakistan.
During the same quarter, Mobilink in partnership with Waseela Microfinance Bank,launched Mobile Financial Services with brand name of ‘MobiCash’.
